Explorer isn't watched by the network — it is the network. Each unit reports its own position and passes on everyone else's, so the more you deploy, the further your coverage reaches. No masts. No SIM cards. No signal required.
Every Explorer carries its own GPS position and relays the rest of the group's. Hand out twenty and you've built a twenty-node mesh that grows its own range as the team spreads out.
When a unit drifts toward the limit of mesh coverage, staff and the Command unit are warned in advance — so you can close the gap before anyone drops off the map.
Explorer earns its place by staying quiet — and knowing exactly when not to. Every threshold is set from the Command unit, and every step is logged. What might have become a search and rescue becomes a calm redirection.
Under normal conditions it's just a tracker. Live position to staff; Command follows pace, elevation gain and any drift from the route. Nobody's phone comes out.
Stray too far off-route and the group gets an automatic prompt to check their map. Exactly how far counts as "too far" is yours to set from Command.
Cross the expedition's geofence and Explorer tells the group to stop — holding them back from dangerous ground and turning a would-be search into a simple redirection. Staff are alerted the instant it happens.

In an emergency, a student presses SOS and confirms what's wrong — an injury, becoming hopelessly lost, or a safeguarding concern. The instant staff acknowledge, the tracker clipped to their bag becomes a full off-grid two-way comms device — no phone signal anywhere required.

For large cohorts and discreet deployments, Explorer Passive drops the screen and the SOS for a sealed, credit-card unit with weeks of standby — same mesh, same network, pure silent position broadcast that hands out by the box. A very different unit, with a page of its own coming soon.
